Aywas: Curious Concoction

Yet another short piece written during January 15-21 for Aywas.
Task was to write a drabble (500 words minimum) of the ingredients in a Swirly Shake.

[Curious Concoction]

Fehlin bounded down to a cabin that laid at the edge of Ay Town. With sheathed claws, he pawed at the door until the door opened, revealing a black-cloaked human figure. The human smiled and said, "Come on in, and I'll give you the ingredients you need for today."

Before the door was completely open, Fehlin dashed inside with his tail wagging. "What are we going to cook today, Chaos?"

Chaos chuckled, his secretive smile teasing the Melo as he said, "You won't find out until we're done cooking."

Fehlin groaned. He didn't like these days. The mystery put a strain on his brain.

The list was exchanged, and Fehlin made his way out of the cabin. He stared at the list, blinking and tilting his head this way and that, before securely gripping the paper with his small claws.

First destination: Tasty Ay Foods. Zave stood behind the counter playing a hand held video game, not looking up from the flashing colors even with the door's creak. Fehlin's head spun around to look at the assorted foods. With a reassuring glance at the list, he grabbed a Sweet Santan and began a pile on the counter. Next onto the pile was Spring Celery, Jelly Cubes, and Elephant Ice Cream. Zave paused the game long enough to name a price and receive blue paws from Fehlin. Fehlin pattered out of the store with teeth clenching a bag with the fresh items inside.

He searched through shops and stumbled onto one owned by another human. Quickly checking the list again, he plucked Pink and Purple Ocoberries from the shop and walked down a row of other grand shops. The next stop was for a Watermelon Acoberry and White Mushrooms. After bowing to the shopkeeper, Fehlin shook his head and stared down at the list again, dumbfounded.

He'd just bought tons of items that didn't make much sense. Cooking was usually consisted of random items, but the current batch seemed too screwy. Nonetheless, Chaos instructed it, and he had to know what he was doing.

Upon returning to Chaos's cabin, Fehlin could see a blender set on a table. Chaos held a huge grin on his face from seeing the plethora of ingredients. "Excellent!" he said, "Now let's chop them up and add them one by one."

Fehlin's jaw dropped, the bag thumping against the ground, the items nearly rolling across the floor. "You're going to just toss them all in there?! But you've got sweet, stale, gelatin, creamy, juicy, watery, and plain blech all in one! What are we making?"

Now Chaos laughed. "The result will shock you, I can guarantee that."

With small comments of encouragement, Chaos managed to rouse Fehlin from his dumbfounded state for the cooking. The Fehlin cut each ingredient accordingly and dumped them into the blender, and with each pile that toppled over the lid, Fehlin gulped harder and harder. The strange concoction couldn't possibly be any good. The taste buds would be assaulted from seven sides!

Stomach nearly clenching and contracting, the Melo stared at the blender mashing the pieces further and further, and Chaos stood in the background, watching the cook at work. When the mess was a liquid-y pink color, Fehlin turned the blender off and lifted the lid. Peering inside, he could see swirls of purple with an occasional white and blue.

The Melo took in a breath, for he had seen the liquid somewhere else before. "I'm done, so what is this?" he pressed again, his mouth twisting and turning from mentally guessing.

Chaos took out a cup and a dish and filled them both with the creation. He set the dish down for Fehlin and said, "Can't you recognize a Swirly Shake? Drink up!"

Fehlin didn't dare let his tongue touch a Swirly Shake since.
